We had tickets booked for the Friday of the F1 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in the small country town, Spielberg.
The Red Bull Ring is situated in a picturesque setting surrounded by the stunning Austrian Alps. It was just more than a 2 hours drive from Vienna and after parking the car in the furthest car park (in a field next to the track), it was still a very long walk through the little local village to get to the track entrance.
The atmosphere was great – from little stalls set up by the locals in the streets of the local village to the actual Red Bull Ring village with different stages, DJ’s and bands playing music, beer tents and merchandise stands everywhere.
The Red Bull Ring has a capacity of over 100,000 and it was jam packed on Friday!
Our seats were directly opposite the pit stop area so we had a fantastic view of all the cars going in and out. Shortly after the practice rounds we went for little wander through the grounds and were back in our seats for the qualifying rounds at 5pm after which we made our way back to our apartment in Vienna.
What an experience!
