On Wednesday, 19th July, we had to leave Saint-Gervais-les-Bains very early as the roads around our apartment were closed from 6am for the Stage 17 of the Tour de France leaving from there again. It was only 1.5 hours drive to our next apartment – just outside of Le Biot – still in the French Alps.
After a bit of rest, we went for a drive and discovered a beautiful mountain lake about 25 minutes from Le Biot – Lac de Montriond. We stopped there and walked the circular path around the lake.
On Thursday, 20th July, we headed to the Lake of Geneva and visited Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux (see our post).
The weather on Friday, 21st July, wasn’t great to start with, so we had a lazy morning. We then decided to take a drive to a nearby village, Chatel, typical alpine village, for lunch.
Saturday, 22nd July, was warm and sunny again so we headed back to the Lac de Montriond for a swim. The mountain lake water is cold, but that didn’t stop the kids!
The perfect end to our time in the French Alps.
