We arrived in Oga on Wednesday, 26th July (about 3.5 hours from Lake Como), a cute little village located close to Bormio
Later that afternoon we took a drive up the Stelvio Pass, also known as Passo dello Stelvio in Italian. It is one of the highest mountain passes in the Alps, situated at an elevation of 2,757 meters above sea level.
The pass is famous for its challenging and exhilarating driving and cycling routes, attracting motoring and cycling enthusiasts from around the world. That explains why we saw dozens and dozens of motorbikes and cyclist going up and coming down.
It’s considered one of the most iconic and scenic driving roads globally, with its 48 hairpin bends and stunning mountain vistas.
There were a few souvenirs shops at the top as well as a couple of sausage carts – selling ‘Bratwurst’ in traditional, local flat breads. It was absolutely freezing at the top too – around 0 degrees!
