We left the small town, Cesena, this morning and stopped in Verona for lunch.
Verona is famous for its connection with Romeo and Juliet – William Shakespeare’s tragic love story. The play is loosely based on an Italian tale that was popular during Shakespeare’s time and it is believed that Verona serves as the backdrop. Several locations in Verona are associated with Romeo and Juliet. One notable place is the Casa di Giulietta (Juliet’s House), which is believed to have inspired Shakespeare’s fictional balcony scene.
We joined the cue to see the balcony from the outside as well as the courtyard with Juliet’s statue, but didn’t follow the crowds inside the house.
