Our Airbnb was in Stahovica, a small town just outside of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
After breakfast we headed into the capital city of Slovenia and were surprised how pretty Ljubljana’s Old Town is.
We started at the Plečnik’s Triple Bridge – one of Ljubljana’s most recognisable landmarks. It consists of three parallel bridges connecting the old town with the modern part of the city and got a coffee at a cool little coffee van in the Central Market – one of the many open-air markets in the town.
A lovely local told us about ‘The Skyscraper’, one of the highest buildings in town. Its thirteen storeys rise to a height of 70.35m is hardly a true skyscraper, however entrance to the rooftop terrace is free of charge, so we were able to enjoy the views over the city and the Ljubljana Castle.
Ljubljana was named the European Green Capital in 2016, recognising its commitment to environmental sustainability and the city centre is mostly car-free.
