We headed into Barcelona this morning, but much to our disappointment, we couldn’t get tickets to go into the La Sagrada Familia.
The unfinished work of architect Antoni Gaudí is very impressive. Construction started in 1882 and almost all of our photos include cranes as construction is still ongoing – all these years later. Sagrada Familia is expected to be completed in 2026, the centenary of Gaudi’s death. Once the spires are completed, Sagrada Familia will go on to be the tallest cathedral in the world.
We headed to the other sights on foot and it included a stroll through the Gothic Quarter with the Barcelona Cathedral and La Rambla with its local stalls and lively atmosphere.
After walking for hours, we stopped at a nice street cafe for a local beer which was, to our surprise, cheaper than the coffee earlier that morning! So far Spain is definitely the cheapest country!
